Guantánamo: Exhibition for the Freedom of the Cuban Five

Cuban FiveGuantánamo.- The unity of the Cuban people for the release of the Cuban Five is reflected in the visual arts exhibition entitled Cinco más uno (Five plus one), opened in Guantánamo by artists from Las Tunas.

The project of the Association of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) and the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) contains 25 works of authors from eastern Cuba, Villa Clara and Havana, including pieces of Gerardo Hernández, one of the fellows imprisoned in United States.

Yordanis González, Specialist at the “Celosía” gallery in UNEAC, highlights the expressive power of drawings, posters, prints, digital art and other techniques as well as the prevailing political satire, according to the denounce message to the unjust terrorist´s imprisonment.

Yordanis adds that the pictorial exhibition will remain in Guantánamo for two weeks, to continue in Santiago de Cuba, and in this demand of freedom for the Five, designs of René de la Nuez and Angel Laborde, form the so called “Tierra del Guaso” are also included .
